Prospective Students

Welcome

Whether you are a competitive skater, former competitor looking to stay involved, or someone who simply loves being on the ice, the Syracuse University Figure Skating Club offers a place to continue your skating journey while being part of a supportive team community. SUFSC is a student-run collegiate figure skating organization representing Syracuse University Figure Club Sports and competing through the U.S. Figure Skating Collegiate Program

Who We Are

The Syracuse University Figure Skating Club brings together skaters from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our members include:

  • Former competitive freestyle skaters
  • Test-track skaters
  • Collegiate competitors
  • Recreational skaters looking to stay involved in the sport

Our team competes in the Collegiate division within the U.S Figure Skating Northeast Conference and works toward qualification for the National Championship throughout the season. We offer opportunties for members to be on our Competition Team or Non-Competition Team, with some members on both teams.

Beyond competition, SUFSC focuses on creating a welcoming team environment where skaters can continue developing their skills, build friendships, and remain connected to the sport during college.

Practices

Practices are held at the  Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion on Syracuse University’s South Campus, two to three times a week at night.

Typical training opportunities include:

  • On-ice team practices
  • Team-building activities
  • Off-ice conditioning and support
  • Competition preparation sessions

Our club understands the balance between academics, extracurriculars, and athletics, with most of our members being involved in other extracurricular activities in addition to our club. We aim to create flexibility while maintaining commitment to team goals.

Competition Oppurtunities

Members have opportunities to:

  • Represent Syracuse University at intercollegiate competitions
  • Skate collegiate programs in individual events
  • Travel with teammates throughout the Northeast Conference
  • Contribute toward team points and qualification goals

Competition participation varies by season and member interest, making it possible for skaters to engage at different levels.

Team Culture

At SUFSC, skating is only part of the experience.

Our club emphasizes:

💙 Community and friendship
🧡 Team support and mentorship
💙 School pride
🧡 Inclusivity for all skating backgrounds
💙 Balancing athletics and academics

Many members joined knowing few people and quickly found a close-knit community both on and off the ice.
